Former striker in England Peter Crouch ] has praised the new Manchester United that Bruno Fernandes has signed, admitted that he would like to play with the midfielder and suggested that the Portuguese playmaker could be the key to United's fortune.
Fernandes completed a highly anticipated transfer when he moved to Old Trafford for £ 47 million on January 30 for £ 47 million in a transfer that could be worth £ 67.7 million with add-ons.
The 25-year-old paid back a hefty investment by opening the scoring with a confident penalty when his new side passed Watford bounced with a 3-0 home win on Sunday.
Crouch was impressed by Fernandes & 42-minute penalty and told Match of Day 2: & # 39; He has lifted the club and fans and looks like a leader.
& # 39; He has a bit of arrogance about him and United needs that. He sees passes and has a fantastic number of passes. He's mobile.
& # 39; He can open doors – he reminds me of Juan Mata in that sense, but Mata can't catch up, use his pace and win that penalty. & # 39;
The player-turning expert stopped at the end of last season, but told viewers that he would have thrived given the service that Fernandes can offer.
& # 39; He builds confidence in other players all day long, & # 39; Crouch added. & # 39; I would like to be at the end of his crosses. The fans love it every minute. & # 39;
& # 39; In today's market we have a good deal & # 39 ;: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises Bruno Fernandes after seizing his first goal for Manchester United, at £ 68 million man admits he & # 39; had the day that every player wants & # 39;
- Bruno Fernandes scored his first goal for Manchester United with a penalty
- He helped inspire Manchester United to a comfortable 3-0 win over Watford
- It was hoped that his performances could help the Red Devils to secure a top four place
- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his party was a & # 39; good deal & # 39; got from the signing in January
The signing in January portrayed another man from the match, scored his first goal for the club in what was an important result for his team, which climbed to fifth place in the rankings of Premier League
Fernandes arrived for an initial fee of £ 44.6 million that could rise to £ 67.8 million if a number of goals are achieved, and Solskjaer believes the club has a good deal reached for the Portuguese midfielder.
He told the BBC after the game: & # 39; Bruno Fernandes is faster than he seems. Very excited by having him inside. He has come in, has given everyone a boost and wants to play a game. Great games are now coming.
& # 39; In today's market we have a good deal. Some players take the time to warm up, but he immediately felt that confidence. & # 39;
He added: & # 39; He always wants the ball, he wants to lead the game. I am very satisfied with him. He did something to the crowd. He shows the characteristics of a Manchester United player. He is a great addition to the team. & # 39;
Manchester United's interest in the 25-year-old began last summer, although they could not reach a deal with Sporting Lisbon.
After a disappointing first halfway through the season, the club decided to go back to Fernandes during the transfer window in January and were able to get their man.
Life in Manchester started well for the midfielder who was the man of the match all three of his United starting so far.
His performances have even made comparisons with the old legend Paul Scholes by his new manager.
The Red Devils reached fifth place in the competition after their 3-0 victory over the Hornets thanks to goals from Fernandes, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
But it was the 42nd of Fernandes minute penalty that would have pleased the public the most, and it is hoped that his presence will inspire Manchester United to qualify for next year's Champions League.
After scoring his first goal for the club, Fernandes told the BBC: & # 39; This is the day every player wants. I feel happy to score, I feel happy to win the game.
& # 39; We have all done our best and have all earned the victory. I just have to help the team, it's what I want to do, it's what I have to do. I hope Martial also scores more goals, like he did tonight. & # 39;
With a quarter of their rather mundane season, Manchester United is on the verge of unexpected performance. If they show any form of consistency, appetite or gumption in the coming months, a place in the Champions League could be theirs.
United did not look like a Champions League team for much of this campaign. Even their better moments are so fleeting that they disappear from memory almost immediately.
But now, a combination of successive victories and the persistent weaknesses of others, the team of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have the right to an unexpected opportunity and it seems that the following four games can tell us a long way if they are really capable.
A victory over Chelsea last Monday followed by a performance here that got better as it lasted longer and United left United in fifth place, only three points lower than what is admittedly rather sloppy pace. The following are games against Everton, Manchester City, Tottenham and Sheffield United. Four games to make or break a season? It looks almost like this.
Here the Solskjaer team started slowly but ended quite well. He will hope that it is a metaphor for the season. This is a United team that is more suited to counter-attack – a new signing by Bruno Fernandes certainly helped – and once they were in charge of a Watford match that was competitive for an hour, they grew in confidence and they looked really dangerous.
It was Fernandes who led United after Ben Foster had brought him down to award a penalty in the 40th minute. Then, after what looked like a Watford equalizer was ruled out by VAR in the second half, United extended its advantage through Anthony Martial and young Mason Greenwood.
The goals of the second half were simple to look at, such as the sight of Fernandes and the man of the match Daniel James who ran directly and regularly from deep positions to the Watford defense. United looks dangerous when they attack like that – worried defenders turn on their heels – and it is something that Solskjaer should try to exploit between now and May.
Conversely, it is nowadays unusual for United to start a game well. The Solskjaer team tends to slowly fall out of the trap. That was how it was here. On a turbulent day, they played early without specific intensity or time, which enabled Watford, among other things, to settle down and play their part.

The first chance was indeed on the visiting team. Nemanja Matic and Harry Maguire got caught in a jumble just outside their own penalty kick and when the ball broke, Troy Deeney looked like he could get a shot. He would also have done it if Luke Shaw had not read the situation so well and had rushed from left to right.
That should have served as a warning for United. Watford does not play as a bottom three under Nigel Pearson and had clearly come to Old Trafford to take action.
Young Greenwood registered an early recording for United, but it was at a distance and straight to Foster. On the other hand, a low cross from the dangerous Gerard Deulofeu Abdoulaye found Doucoure in a dangerous position, but he couldn't find a space to get a shot and eventually ran the ball over the dead ball line while looking for a corner.
Neither of the teams had adapted terribly well to the circumstances and that was not surprising. United, in the absence of the injured Marcus Rashford, lacked a focal point at the front.
Fernandes – always looking for a bag of space in the last third – fed James on the left in the 17th minute. The curled shot from the Welsh winger to the far post didn't look that dangerous, but when Foster pushed it directly to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, the United full-back might have done better than driving the rebound wide from the nearby post.
Roberto Pereyra was only just wide with a good shot halfway through half and then Shaw, for United, Foster routinely worked with a low ride from 25 yards.
For a while that was the way in which both teams felt each other a bit. Over time, however, United slowly took the initiative. Too many of Watford & # 39; s trips broke down 30 yards from the goal – much to Pearson's frustration – and although Doucoure saved David de Gea with a grating left foot in the half hour, it was no great surprise that United finally arrived managed to squeeze the lead.
Space was the key. United started to find it in the attacking areas of the field. Fred should have done more than a sideways shot after a combination of Fernandes and James found him in the 38th minute and then Fernandes took matters into their own hands.
The pass through the middle of James was a good one and Fernandes reached the ball well ahead of Foster who brought it down. Fernandes waited for Foster to bind himself to the right before quietly placing the penalty in the opposite corner. Five minutes before half time United was at the forefront and it was a reward for what would have been steady if there were no spectacular improvements.
It felt like a big moment in a game that never felt like it would have many goals. It happened that the most important passage did not arrive until the second half, because Watford had ruled out a goal and then United went on six minutes later.
. Watford started the second half strong, as if he were instructed by Pearson to try and get hold of the game. And when Will Hughes took James on the edge of his own territory, Doucoure was able to drive a low cross that forced Shaw to take a corner.
When the ball arrived near the post, two United defenders missed it and Craig Dawson bundled it against the post, allowing Deeney to poke the rebound. It seemed a reasonable goal, but when Watford celebrated the VAR officials, they went to work and showed that Dawson & # 39; s use of the upper arm to divert the ball to goal was clear.
So, relieved and undoubtedly relieved, United tried to profit and did so soon after. James and Greenwood were neatly combined on the left to cause problems when Fernandes sent Martial through the same channel in the 59th minute. Foster saved the Frenchman's first shot with his leg, but when Martial regained possession, he was able to turn and lift the ball over the Watford goalkeeper and into a goal that really should have been protected by that time by a defender on the line.
Able to relax a bit and now that Watford is chasing the game, United starts to play freely. Foster saved again with his of Martial – this time the attack came to the right – and then Maguire was off the goal with a header from a free kick.
Shortly afterwards they sealed the game and it was a nice goal. Hughes lost the ball in midfield and when Fernandes broke and fed Greenwood, the young attacker could go inside on his left foot and hit Foster high to the right of the goalkeeper.

Juan Mata said that Manchester United new boys Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo settle nicely in Old Trafford.
Fernandes and Ighalo were two United & # 39; s three additions during the January transfer window, along with Southend goalkeeper Nathan Bishop. Fernandes was associated with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the summer and finally moved through a Sporting Lisbon move, late in the window, but Ighalo & # 39; s deadline day move from Shanghai Shenhua came as a big shock.
Mata has admitted that they have adapted well to their new environment in United.
& # 39; We welcomed them both, & # 39; said Mata. & # 39; Bruno is a very good player, we all know that, and also a very nice guy. We have had a lot of contact.

& Hopefully he can help us in this second part of the season and I am sure he will do that because he is a loyalty player . & # 39;

The last time United United met, they suffered their most embarrassing defeat of the Premier League campaign. Mata is determined to make up for their blunder on Vicarage Road where a David De Gea blunder saw an already sour afternoon.
Yes, that was not a very good day for us … neither the performance nor the result, & said the 31-year-old midfielder Mata.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer threw Fernandes at the deep end from the beginning that he had brought him into Sporting Lisbon from January.
The technically gifted midfielder has already put an assist in his first two Premier League games.
If he can have something like Scholes' career at Old Trafford, he will be a huge hit with the United fans.
