In addition, they want to ensure that there are three promotion places amid suggestions that only Leeds and West Brom could go up.

The potential financial impact of voiding the season is important to championship clubs, worth around £ 200 million.

It Came To Pass wins St. James’s Place Foxhunter Challenge Cup Open Hunters’ Chase at Cheltenham

It Came To Pass wins St. James & # 39; s Place Foxhunter Challenge Cup Open Hunters & # 39; Chase in Cheltenham

It Came To Pass caused a mighty 66-1 upset at the St. James & # 39; s Place Foxhunter Challenge Cup in Cheltenham.

It was a family affair, as the winner in County Cork was trained by Eugene O'Sullivan, who sent Lovely Citizen out to take this prized hunter hunt in 1991, and was ridden by his daughter, Maxine .

Marcle Ridge made the run, and soon the runners stretched before returning to the field and on his way with three heads.

Shantou Flyer continued under its owner David Maxwell, but it didn't take long for It Came To Pass to come on the scene with a well-timed challenge.

The 10-year-old brought daylight between himself and his rivals and had 10 lengths to spare more than 11-4 favorite Billaway on the line.

Shantou Flyer was five lengths away in third place, with Staker Wallace three and a quarter lengths back in fourth.

The winning trainer said, "I'm over the moon. We won this race 29 years ago, riding my brother William. Unfortunately, my father is no longer with us, but I am sure he looked down on us today.

& # 39; We have a great family operation at home, a lot of people are involved and we are working hard.

& # 39; Maxine does a lot of work and she is a brilliant girl. She has little confidence in herself and her handling, but she is brilliant. & # 39;

Maxine O & # 39; Sullivan said: & # 39; He just loved it all the way and everything was fine. I couldn't have wished for a better round.

& # 39; We knew that if he returned to his old form, he would have a serious chance, and he did. He was better than ever today. We knew he would stay very well.

& # 39; It is really special for our family. My uncle won it in 1991, my father trained it and my grandfather owned and bred it. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away in recent years, but he would be so proud.

& # 39; This is our Gold Cup. It is such a family business. It means a lot to us. & # 39;

St Helens 4-18 Warrington: Warrington complete shock Challenge Cup victory

St Helens 4-18 Warrington: Wolves complete shock Challenge Cup victory as underdogs roll over favorites

  • Joe Philbin, Ben Murdoch-Masila and Daryl Clark all found the try line for Wolves
  • Steve Price's side were underdogs before kickoff, but made for a clinical display
  • Theo Fages attempted a comeback in the second half, but it didn't work was not enough
  • Warrington raised the Challenge Cup 12 months after losing the final to Catalan
  • Favorites St Helens were hoping for a first challenge Cup triumph since 2008

Prince Harry turned down a weekend with the rest of the family in Balmoral to be in Wembley.

He must feel that it was an informed decision after Warrington Wolves showed a show suitable for a king, let alone a prince, to stun favorites St Helens in a pulsating collision.

Led by the magnificent Stefan Ratchford, and in the absence of injured playmaker Blake Austin, the Wire caused one of the biggest shocks in the history of this grand old tournament.

<p> <noscript> <img id= Mark Percival of St. Helens tackles Josh Charnley of Warrington Wolves at the final

St Helens is widely regarded as the best team in the country, and for good reason. They are 16 points clear at the top of the Super League.

Warrington had lost their last five games and it seemed as if they had no idea where their next victory would come from. They know now.

Somehow, the underdogs took everything the saints, who rightly were injured with referee Robert Hicks, threw at them.

 Mark Percival did not allow attempt by video referee Ben Thaler in the first half "class =" blkBorder img-share "/> <noscript> <noscript> <img id= Mark Percival has not been attempted by video referee Ben Thaler in the first half

Somehow they got their noses in front and protected that leadership as if their lives depended on it.

After going up 12-0, they were under enormous pressure. And when the gap was narrowed to eight, they could have collapsed. They did not. With eight minutes remaining of the match, Daryl Clark forced his way through and their dream came true.

Warrington & # 39; s sympathetic Australian coach Steve Price, whose side was upset by Catalans Dragons last year, said & # 39; This is a better feeling, isn't it? It was very hollow last year.

& # 39; I & # 39; I'm just really happy for the players – they worked their way up from the back. It had to take a special performance and I have a special group. & # 39;

The game might have taken a different course if Saints had been attempted when Morgan Knowles set a Theo Fages kick three minutes into the game.

For reasons known only to him, Hicks excluded it and didn't even send it to the video room. Saints boss Justin Holbrook, who said the better team won, called it & # 39; unforgivable & # 39 ;.

& # 39; It is the last Challenge Cup & # 39 ;, he said. & # 39; You would be nasty if it happened in a Super League game and they didn't check it. It's huge – you get your nose on a hot day. This may sound like sour grapes, but I can't get around it. It is awful. & # 39;

Desperate defense kept the game scoreless until quick-thinking Joe Philbin discovered a hole and was over.

Saints defender Lachlan Coote, who was having a nightmare, dropped a Ratchford bomb and Ben Murdoch-Masila passed from the set of six.

With the arrival of half time, Warrington managed to hold out and Ratchford celebrated.

Another game changer came when a flying Bryson Goodwin denied a Tommy Makinson trademark dive. After a violent pressure wave, Fages finally broke through the tiresome primula-and-blue wall. But Coote unforgivably couldn't add the extras, and Clark took care of it.

Prince Harry found a chair in the shade on a burning day, not for fair skinned people.

The spotlight, however, belonged to Warrington.

UFC president Dana White ‘shocked’ at Yoel Romero’s weak challenge to Israel Adesanya at UFC 248

Dana White & # 39; shocked & # 39; due to the weak challenge of Yoel Romero against Israel Adesanya at UFC 248, because he admits that he & # 39; probably shouldn't have been fighting & # 39;

  • Dana White was surprised by Yoel Romero & # 39; s challenge for Israel Adesanya & # 39; s title
  • Adesanya defeated Romero to defend his UFC middleweight title in Las Vegas
  • The Kiwi won the title by beating Australian Robert Whittaker last October

UFC President ]] Dana White believes that Yoel Romero is only to blame for his unanimous decision to defeat Israel Adesanya on UFC 248.

In one of the most bizarre championships in the history of sport, 30-year-old Adesanya defended his UFC middleweight title in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada.

The battle began strangely with Romero, 42, standing still with his guard in the middle of the octagon, with neither hunter landing a major part of the first two minutes.

But Adesanya eventually retained the belt he won on UFC 243 by beating the Australian cloak at Whittaker in Melbourne last October, and after the fight White was left bewildered by Romero & # 39; s lack of application.

& # 39; I am shocked, & # 39; said White. & # 39; Romero knew this was his last chance at a world championship.

& # 39; I thought he would come out like a bat from hell, put tons of pressure on him, shoot takedowns, try to take him out. He literally did not do that. If you are Adesanya, he fought the smart fight.

& # 39; Afterwards is 20/20. We probably shouldn't have done that fight and we should have waited for Costa [Paulo]. Well, we did it. & # 39;

Just a few minutes after watching one of the biggest battles in UFC history between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, the whole audience got their backs from Romero.

He responded by landing a flurry of blows, but that stimulated Adesanya into action and by the time the fifth round came, the high number of leg kicks delivered by Adesanya on Romero's right leg began to take its toll.

Adesanya is expected to defend his title later against the undefeated Brazilian Costa this year.

Cancer battle proved to be spur for Ed Chamberlin to take the punt on new challenge in racing

It is a testament to the power of sport in Ed Chamberlin's life that it both comforted and excited him while he worked [schaduwvandedoodopdetroonvanRichardKeysenAndyGrayenhetmeestdonkerhetuitzichtopdeberoemdebergopwaartsefinishtoenhijzoveelbruldeterondersteuningvanzijnvriendAPMcCoyindeChampionHurdlevan2009datzijnintraveneuzebuizenwerdenlosgemaaktenhijzattemiddenvandedetritus&#39;vanbloedenchemotherapiemedicijnen&#39;

& # 39 ; Oh, and AP lost & # 39 ;, he recalls Binocular that Punjabi's challenge could not resist the kind of race that makes Cheltenham so addictive that it can be added to the banned substance list.

& # 39; I was in intensive care and televisions are not allowed there & # 39 ;, he says about the aftermath of surgery to remove a stomach tumor.

& # 39; But with a little persuasion, a little bribery, I managed to get one and was happy to see AP give one of the biggest rides ever on Wichita Lineman. & # 39; Binoculars fell short, but I will always remember that day. & # 39;

The experience of cancer has characterized his family. "I was fully aware of how difficult it was for them," Chamberlin adds.

"It is still in a sense because it still haunts them. My wife was pregnant with our second child. I felt a little under control, but people were walking around you. I felt sorry for them & # 39;

 The 46-year-old helped revitalize racing coverage on ITV after the switch "class =" blkBorder img-share "/> </div>
<p> <noscript> <img id= The 46-year-old -old has helped revitalize coverage on ITV after making the move

Eleven years later, 46 years, Chamberlin cannot only think about his ordeal and what it revealed to him, but it also gives an important role in his leap from the most prominent role in the British live sport to the need and the backwater that was television racing.

He has breathed new life into the sport and leads what is considered by many to be the best team in the broadcaster.

& # 39; Every fight against cancer is very different & # 39 ;, he insists. "I look back and think how happy I was when I read horror stories from others.

" I avoided a big bullet. I was so sick before I received treatment that the prospects were bleak when they discovered the tumor, so I was very excited about just throwing everything at me.

There are thousands of types of chemotherapy. My one was fierce. I am mentally very strong and I felt like fighting right away.

& # 39; As soon as my markers came down, I knew that it was not spread so badly and that I would survive. That was about six weeks after my chemotherapy and I was a different person, I was on the attack. The tumor became smaller, the pain went away. & # 39;

This resilience was natural, almost instinctive. But cancer played a role when he was given the opportunity in 2017 to lead ITV Racing. He has been a fan of racing since childhood. It had led him to the graduation plan of the British Horseracing Authority, where work experience was sent to bookmaker Ladbrokes.

He stayed there for three years before setting up a gambling magazine that was devoured by the bursting of the dotcom bubble. He was then recruited for Sky and was suddenly thrown into the front line when Keys and Gray left the station following a scandal over comments in 2011.

& # 39; I was thrown into it & # 39 ;, Chamberlin admits. & # 39; I had never played a live football game before presenting Fulham v Newcastle on Tuesday night at Craven Cottage. If I am honest, I was useless to begin with. But in my third game – the Manchester derby – with that overhead kick from Wayne Rooney – I had a fight with (former Manchester City winger) Mike Summerbee in the studio and that brought me to the map. & # 39;

 Chamberlin earned wide recognition for his role as host on Monday Night Football "class =" blkBorder img-share "/> </div>
<p> <noscript> <img id= Chamberlin earned wide recognition for his role as host on Monday evening football

Chamberlin chuckling at this story, but he was a serious player in switching from the highly successful Keys-Gray model to a Super Sunday and Monday Night Football account that launched the career of Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher as analysts.

He had helped bring an already iconic brand to new heights. Sunday afternoon and Monday evening were compulsively looking for the arguments and insights. Chamberlin was the king of an indomitable castle and looked down on all rivals. So he left.

IT was the kind of father-and-son heart to heart that is normally reserved for birds and bees. This ended in tears.

I told him I left Sky. He started crying. He said, "Dad, what did you do?"

Sam Chamberlin, then seven years old, responded to the news of his father who left the kingdom in the air for the earthly pleasures of horse racing. Chamberlin senior offered no delay to his partner.

& # 39; AP told me I was crazy, & # 39; he laughs. & # 39; He said I shouldn't take the job and keep playing football. Of course I ignored him.

& # 39; The first day we worked on the race together in January 2017, it was a monsoon. & # 39;

 Chamberlin applauded McCoy in the 2009 Champion Hurdle while being treated for cancer "class =" blkBorder img-share "/> </div>
<p> <noscript> <img id= Chamberlin applauded McCoy in 2009 Hurdle champion while being treated for cancer

So why did Chamberlin jump like that? Does it go back to the survival of cancer and the desire to get the best out of life, to gamble everything when one has stepped off the edge?

"Yes, it has changed me enormously as a person," he says. "I was much more willing to take a risk. I always dreamed of having that job, although I never thought it would happen.

" As soon as I was offered it, I wanted to it. Pre-illness, I would have been more careful. I had a different post-cancer attitude. I felt: "Yo you only live once, let's give it a try". I wasn't like that before. & # 39; His immersion in racing arrived early in the Westland of his youth. & # 39; It was through a Scottish grandfather, Jock Burns, & # 39; he reflects.

& # 39; My earliest memories are that he was sitting in his armchair, a pint of cider on a table and the telephone by his side to contact his credit account. & # 39;

The attraction was immediate.

& # 39; It was the gambling side of & # 39 ;, Chamberlin continues. & # 39; It was the Grand National that I became addicted to. I was in charge of household sweepstakes when I was a boy and had my first bet at the age of eight or nine.

I supported Spartan Missile and I cursed Bob Champion when he won at Aldaniti. I had no idea the story would unfold before my eyes, & # 39;

 Chamberlin remembers Bob Champion won the 1981 Grand National at Aldaniti "class =" blkBorder img-share "/> </div>
<p> <noscript> <img id= Chamberlin recalls that Bob Champion won the 1981 National Grand at Aldaniti

Champion of course won the 1981 National after recovering from testicular cancer.

& # 39; It spiraled from there & # 39 ;, says Chamberlin.

& # 39; Once racing takes you, it grabs you. & # 39; A fan of Southampton, his detour to football was educational and satisfying. He passed the dramatic audition in the air that had been knocked down by the Keys and Gray departments.

& # 39; It was almost like good news, bad news, & # 39; he says. & # 39; First they said that I had the Super Sunday and Monday Night soccer court. Then they said we were linking you to a man named Gary Neville.

& # 39; I thought, "Oh, no. I am essentially starting my presentation career with the most unpopular footballer in the country." I was very nervous about it.

& # 39; But I only had to meet Gary once to realize what a great guy he was and, secondly, what great influence he would have on me with his work ethics and determination.

& # 39; Thirdly, I realized that I would love to show people at home that he is a funny guy, a family boy, and a great guy. & # 39;

The show has taken a new course. Neville, with a touchscreen installed in his house, became an expert in the technical aspects of presentation while retaining his passion.

 Chamberlin admitted that he learned from working with Jamie Carragher (L) and Gary Neville (R) "class =" blkBorder img-share "/> </div>
<p> <noscript> <img id= Chamberlin admitted that he learned from working with Jamie Carragher (L) and Gary Neville (R)

Carragher joined a different distinctive voice than that agreed with his former English teammate.

Neville and Carragher dragged every last drop out of their career, Chamberlin says.

& # 39; They brought the same attitude toward Sky. I learned from that. It was all about Alex Ferguson's school or never standing still. If you succeeded, you go again. & # 39;

This brought prizes, friendship and personal satisfaction.

Chamberlin has the same mentality for ITV. He is as relaxed as that of his hero Desmond Lynam, the big BBC anchor, who seems to be presenting amid the chaos of roaring gamblers, howling horses and celebrating owners while he gently thinks about the vagaries of life .

His internal mantra can be said as little as possible. & # 39; Any presenter who feels the need to teach the viewer … well, then it's time to turn off the light & he says.

 Zara Tindall shares a joke with Chamberlin in the middle of ITV's Cheltenham Festival coverage "class =" blkBorder img-share "/> </div>
<p> <noscript> <img id= Zara Tindall shares a joke with Chamberlin in the middle of ITV & Cheltenham Festival coverage

He acts as conductor for the most gifted soloists: Francesca Cumani, Mick Fitzgerald and the two largest National Hunt jockeys, McCoy and Ruby Walsh.

The team eats together every evening for a broadcast. Chamberlin takes away worries, encourages anecdotes, sets arguments and reinforces a camaraderie that can be felt on the camera. But some lessons have a longer history.

& # 39; AP is softened & # 39 ;, he says about McCoy, the most obese winner in a sport that demands blood and breaks in exchange for the fleeting sense of victory.

& # 39; I remember being in the jockeys & # 39; room sat after his ride, Clan Royal, was performed by a loose horse after he was eliminated in the National 2005, & # 39; says Chamberlin.

& # 39; AP had his head in his hands when Jonjo (O & # 39; Neill, trainer of Clan Royal) came in. AP muttered: "What a disaster." But Jonjo, who had recovered from cancer, said, "No, it isn't. Sitting in a room waiting for your cancer treatment, that's a disaster." It has changed AP. & # 39;

The coverage of Cheltenham will be inhabited by characters who will insist on professionalism and dedication demands. But it will suitably have a lightness of the soul.

It will finally be led by a man who thought the finish line was close but, blessedly, has discovered that his breed is far from being executed.

Ed Chamberlin is accompanied by Francesca Cumani, AP McCoy, Ruby Walsh, Mick Fitzgerald, Sally Anne Grassick, Brough Scott and others for ITV and ITV4 coverage of the Cheltenham Festival, which starts Tuesday.
